Contextual Advertising

Contextual Advertising is a relatively new form of advertising on the web that will consider the context of the site, a page or a search query, to display ads from advertisers that correspond to the topic. Its usual form is text-based, using regular hyperlinks, sometimes small graphics and brief descriptions to attract users that may be interested. It is usually highly targetted and is better accepted by users because it is less obstrusive, less bandwith hungry and more relevant than the classic graphical banners. For example, a web page about photography will automatically draw advertisers selling cameras and other photo related accessories. It also has the benefits of making the job of a web publisher easier to find sponsors, as the contextual advertising company acts as an automatic middle man between publishers and advertisers, who bid for specific keywords using an auction system. The same can be said for advertisers, since they now have access to thousands of possible web sites to automatically advertise on. It usually works as Pay per Click, meaning the publisher only generate revenues when a user actively click on an ad, as opposed to Pay per Impressions, an older system that generates revenue based on the number of time the ad is displayed.

Google was on the forefront of this innovation when they created Google Adsense, the first major contextual advertising program. In the beginning, these new ads appeared with their search engine, but they soon expanded it to include webmasters and their web sites, which they named their "Content Network". Using a few ligns of Javascript code, publishers could insert Adsense on their web pages and it would then automatically serve relevant ads using Google's search algorithm. Google also considers other factors such as the geographical location of visitors and their languages, so ads can actually be different for each visitor. Other companies followed with similar programs, but they lacked the sophistication of Adsense since they demanded specific keywords from webmasters instead of detecting them on their pages. Other big players on the web are now slowly embracing this terrific new marketing technology, such as the Yahoo! Publisher Network and MSN adCenter. Contextual Advertising is making it now possible for smaller webmasters and publishers who own small hobby sites to monetize their efforts without spending all their time dealing with appropriate sponsors that may not necessarly be interested with smaller sites when taken on an individual level.

Contextual advertising programs and Google Adsense Alternatives

Here we list companies that offer this marketing solution to webmasters. Google Adsense is often considered the prime choice, but they do have restrictions and some people may be refused to their program.

Improve Your PPC Conversion Rate By 62.5%

This is not a quick fix so apologies for anyone who thought that a few quick changes would turn their PPC (pay-per-click) campaign around, PPC campaign management just doesn’t work that way. However this stat is highly relevant to anyone who undertakes SEO or PPC advertising.

Click Consult has recently undertaken a comparison of different PPC accounts to reveal a statistic that should make a business re-consider their whole internet marketing strategy. Using a random selection of 20 Click Consult PPC clients, we have been able to compare the conversion rates of clients who do PPC alone to PPC and SEO combined. We found that if you combine the two, your conversion rate on PPC is 62.5% higher on average.

I’m not even going to mention any of the many benefits of undertaking SEO; however we have many other blogs that do if you are interested. However I will point out that if you are currently using PPC advertising and not undertaking SEO then you should definitely consider adding SEO to your marketing strategy. Also if you do currently undertake SEO but do not have a PPC campaign then the benefits of starting a PPC campaign will be increased.

Obviously there are many factors that affect your PPC conversion rate other than the direct affects of SEO on a website. However in this random sample these other factors even each other out because clients with both high and low converting industries and websites were taken into account on both sides.

If I’ve lost you or if you’re not sure what to do with this information then don’t worry just give Click Consult a call and we’ll be happy to go through your internet marketing strategy with you. We offer a full range of services including PPC, SEO, Web Development, Affiliate & Email Marketing and Online PR. We’ll go through how we can benefit your company achieving a quick and high ROI.

NB: In an updated version of this study, a larger sample of clients was used to ensure the integrity of the hypothesis (i.e. that combining PPC and SEO improves conversion rates). For more information on this study, please click here.

Introducing Google’s Ghost Ads

For anyone with a large Google PPC (Pay-Per-Click) campaign, you may have gone to a lot of time and effort to split out and break down your ad groups as much as possible. Having just one common keyword theme in your ad group (for example, used books, cheap used books, used books UK, used books online, buy used books etc) and bespoke ad text that is unique to the ad group is strongly recommended by Google and one of the fundamental ways to make PPC advertising successful. It goes without saying that if someone is searching Google for ‘used books’ they don’t want to see a sponsored links ad for ‘new books’.

This is why what I now call ‘Google Ghost Ads’ are so annoying. Ghost ads are ad text that freely move between ad groups no matter how well segregated your ad groups are. It doesn’t matter if your used books ad belongs to the used books ad group, they will break free of ad group barriers and appear for other unrelated searches, such as ‘new books.’

Why do they do this? The answer is Google’s closely guarded, much vaunted Quality Score algorithm. If one ad has a higher Quality Score rating than another, then it can wander between searches and appear for any keyword in your campaign. Negatives on an ad group level can help, but unless you conduct searches for every keyword in your account, you never know what is appearing for what in Google’s search results. Furthermore, this considerable task must be carried out frequently because Quality Score ratings are always changing and never static.

The fact that you can have God knows what ad appear for God knows what keyword search is very worrying. The sooner Google takes action to stop ghost ads floating out of their ad group jail cells and into other searches that have nothing to do with them, the better!

Email Marketing is the Less Expensive Alternative

Expense is not only measured in pounds and pence, other factors like time and effort plays a part too. Email marketing is a very cost effective marketing tool as it means that you can interact with users who actually prefer this method of communication over other traditional methods like call centres.

As it gives them the ability to peruse your product when and where it suits them, it cuts down the necessity of having teams of people, and people require overheads like money, training and a place from which to operate from.

The time needed for an agent to contact only one potential subscriber is counted in minutes, whereas the time taken for an email campaign to be sent to thousands of people is counted in seconds. Straight away you can see that the cost to your company in the form of both time and pounds is not even comparable.

Cyberspace or not

The costs of designing an email campaign are low compared to the alternative of having to send, or advertise printed matter. Both email and printed campaigns do involve initial set up costs in the form of design and layout. From there on email campaigns involve ‘sending’ costs only as a template can be used, whereas printed campaigns entail recurring printing and posting costs.

The costs to your company in being able to actively keep your database updated are beyond measure. Using the traditional methods of advertising will not be able to tell you who opened your letter or who looked at your flyer. In order to do this you would need to hire a professional marketing firm who would conduct a survey on your product in order to ascertain who amongst the public is interested.

Market Research-Doing keyword research

In this lesson you’ll learn how to uncover large keyword lists, how to uncover more profitable keywords, and which free and paid keyword research tools are the best.

This is a lesson in general keyword research. The information here applies to both pay-per-click keywords and to natural search engine listings.

You don’t need to use all the tools I mention here in your own research. If you’re just starting out and not earning much yet, you’ll probably be fine with the keyword research tool in Traffic Travis, or one of the following free keyword tools:

  • The free Wordtracker keyword tool
  • The Google Adwords free keyword tool

Traffic Travis

You can download this software for free from TrafficTravis.com

Using the keyword finder tool, you can quickly carry out essential research.

The tool searches and collates data from Yahoo, Ask.com, Wordtracker and the Google networks so that you end up with a large number of keywords related to word or phrase that you entered into the search box.

You can also view how often each keyword is searched for in each of the data sources.

The keyword finder is an excellent tool for researching related words and scrutinizing the popularity of search terms.

Let’s take a look at an example:

I’m going to type in the term ’scrapbooking’ and select the keyword sources that I wish to crawl.

Within seconds, Keyword Finder gives me a large number of relevant keywords and it also shows how popular the word is in each search engine, listing the daily search count for each word.

Let me wrap up this snapshot of the Traffic Travis Keyword Finder by giving you a couple of ways to use it to your advantage:

  • Use the Keyword Finder to search for popular products to promote. Keywords or keyword phrases searched more than 5,000 times a day in Google indicate a healthy market. Phrases searched more than 10,000 times a day in Google indicate a very strong market.
  • You can also use the Keyword Finder to build keyword lists for your pay-per-click campaigns, simply by selecting the keywords you wish to use and moving them to Saved. Then open up the Keyword sorter and assemble them into related groups. Traffic Travis contains tutorial videos on both the Keyword Finder and the Keyword Sorter so give these a whirl to learn more.

While the Traffic Travis keyword finder tool is first rate, it’s important not to rely on a single source for keywords, as each source gets their results from different sources. Plus, some tools remove plurals and others correct misspellings, which skews your data.

Here are some more free tools you can use to build a comprehensive keyword list:

1. Google Free Keyword Tool

I’ll type in "learn Spanish" and "learn Spanish online" and click "get keyword ideas". Google gives me a large list of keywords relating to these two phrases.

If you scroll down the page, you’ll find another section called "Additional keywords to consider". These are phrases that Google deems to be related to the keywords that you typed in above, but don’t actually include the exact words that you used. This is a great way of uncovering more related search terms you might not have considered.

You’ll also notice that Google shows you indicators of advertiser competition, search volume for the month, and average search volume over multiple months.

2. Freekeywords.wordtracker.com

Wordtracker is available in both free and paid versions. We’ll look at the paid version next.

To use the free version, all you need to do is type in a keyword phrase and click "hit me". For example, a search for "learn guitar" brings back the top 100 related keyword phrases.

The free version has a limit of 100 results, whereas the paid version brings back many more, plus it gives you other tools to play with.

3. Wordtracker (paid version)

The paid version of WordTracker is very good for finding related keywords that you might otherwise not think of, and it’s considerably cheaper than Keyword Discovery, which we’ll look at next.

Usually I go "Keyword Universe" and then "Popularity search". WordTracker will produce a number of keywords and synonymous terms, and give you the relative popularity of each term, much like Google’s tool does.

Note that the numbers you see in WordTracker will usually be different to those you see in Google as they get their data from different search engines, but the relationship between the terms will usually be the same. So a term that ranks higher than another term in Google will also rank proportionally higher in WordTracker.

The good thing about WordTracker is that it doesn’t lump terms together. So it’s easy to see whether "dog collar" or "dog collars" is more popular, and words ending with "ing" will be differentiated.

It’s this detection of variance in the keywords that I find to be the most useful feature of WordTracker.

4. Keyword Discovery

It isn’t cheap — the standard version costs $69.95 per month. But due to the fact that Keyword Discovery compiles keyword search statistics from over 180 search engines worldwide, it is probably the most powerful and accurate keyword research tool available.

One of Keyword Discovery’s best features is the provision of 12 month seasonal trends, so that you can see if the keywords that you are interested in are popular all year ’round — or just during a certain period.

For instance, if you were creating a costume website, you’d probably find that you should prepare for an increase in traffic around Halloween and also during the summer, when more people are having bachelor parties and so on.

Other methods for finding keywords

Keyword research tools are one way of finding keywords, but there are other useful methods too. The downside to keyword popularity tools is that they don’t necessarily tell you which terms people are using when they want to buy.

For instance, it’s possible to have search terms that are very, very popular, but are poor markets to try to sell to. For example, "hairstyle" related keywords are incredibly popular, but most of the people searching on them are simply looking for pictures and other free information. They’re not usually interested in buying anything.

That’s why I recommend you look at the advertiser competition in a market before you get too excited about a popular search term. If there are no other advertisers, there’s a good chance there isn’t any money in that market.

But that assumes you already know what you’re looking for.

If you’re just brainstorming keywords that might be profitable, there’s another resource you can use that is completely free: forums.

Forums

Forums are places where people go to discuss issues, ask questions, and talk about things that are stressing them out. By browsing forums related to your general topic, you can get a good idea of the sort of things that concern your target market and "where their pain is".

For instance, on a dog related topic you might find that a lot of people are searching for "german shepherd". This doesn’t mean they’re interested in buying anything however; and if you were spending money on pay-per-click promoting this topic you might find yourself losing money because people are simply searching for photos or something similar.

However, if you go into a forum, then you’ll see topics like "stop dog aggression" or "antisocial dog". These are people who are looking for information because they have a need — they have "pain". These people are much more likely to purchase something to ease their pain than someone who is just looking for dog pictures or general information.

So forum topics and discussions are not only good for brainstorming, but they can give you a valuable insight into what your market is thinking. They’re also a great place to get ideas for article subjects, review topics, and product topics — all sorts of things.

You could use keywords related to these topics in your pay-per-click keywords, leading visitors to a page reviewing a number of products that solve their problem. Or you could use their questions to target your landing page.

In either case, it’ll seem like you really understand the issues facing your market, and that’s good.

Remember, once you’ve got an idea about a particular issue facing your market, plug a bunch of appropriate words into Google and see if people are advertising on them already. If they are — then good. If they’re not — have a think about why this might be.

Also, try to use specific words that your competition might not think of.

At Affilorama, we’re big fans of forum research and use this method all the time for our own products. Make sure that you don’t take this suggestion lightly — it really is a great way of getting to know your target market, what they are really interested in and where their pain is.

Localized ads

When you plug your keywords into any of the keyword tools we’ve mentioned, you’re bound to find results specific to a certain region.

For instance, if you enter the word "dog", you might see that a lot of people are searching for "dog schools california". You can still make a play for these keywords even if you’re not promoting a product or service located in California itself.

If I saw that "dog schools California" was a relatively popular search term, I would be tempted to create a pay-per-click ad saying something like "Dog schools in California recommend these eBooks".

The ad still uses the words "dog schools California", and the visitor knows that they’ll be taken to a site about eBooks so those who click are still reasonably qualified.

It’s a logical assumption that people interested in dog schools might also be interested in eBooks on dog training… so I’d make a site reviewing dog training books (ostensibly recommended by dog schools in California). Remember to test these things though.

Online Shopping Sites

Another way of getting ideas for markets and search terms is by taking a look at online shopping sites such as Amazon, eBay and ClickBank.

For example, if you were creating a keyword list for the weight loss market, then you could search for "lose weight" in Amazon and find weight-loss related book titles and author names. If you click on the book descriptions and comments from readers, you’ll discover even more keywords that are very important to the weight loss market.

People searching for specific things are much more targeted — They know what they want enough to plug the name into a search engine. Therefore those search terms are likely to have higher conversion rates.

For instance, if you were focussing on "weight loss", you could look up weight loss books or DVDs on Amazon.com, and then write reviews of those products.

You could then make money either by signing up to Amazon’s affiliate program and earning a small commission if somebody purchases through your link — and when I say small commission, I mean very small!

Or alternatively you could have "supplemental" reviews of the "top 4 ebooks related to this topic", and then hopefully earn a considerably higher affiliate commission through those.

Clickbank is an excellent place to find related eBooks that pay much higher commissions than Amazon.

In any case, by focussing on search terms containing specific product names or author names you’re able to get more targeted traffic to your site, and that’s a very good thing!

ClickBank and eBay are also good places to finding products and authors you might like to focus on. Remember to take the names you find and plug them into your keyword popularity tool to see if many people are searching on them.

In this lesson you’ll learn how to uncover large keyword lists, how to uncover more profitable keywords, and which free and paid keyword research tools are the best. This is a lesson in general keyword research. The information here applies to both pay-per-click keywords and to natural search engine listings.

8 Reasons to start an online business in 2009

The economy is down, we’re in probably the worst financial crisis since the great depression, and unemployment is shooting through the roof. Sounds like the worst time to start an online business right? Wrong! 2009 could be the perfect time to start a business if you are smart about it. Here’s the reasons why:

It’s Easy to do

Starting an online business is simple to do. It’s not like starting a normal business. It doesn’t take as much money or time to create an online business. There are many different ways to make money online including retail stores, affiliate advertising, creating a successful blog, article writing, or website/graphic design etc. All those ideas are legitimate online businesses that have made a ton of money for a ton of people who are doing what they love. You can even create a successful online business in your spare time. You don’t have to quit your day job to be a success.

It’s Cheap

Creating a website is extremely cheap compared to starting up a store or office. Even if you don’t design your website yourself you can pay someone else to do it and you can get it done cheap by free lancers through sites like Guru.com. After you get your site designed you will need to pick a domain name. You’re going to want to pick a domain name that relates to what you are selling. After that you will need to pick a web host. Web hosting is a service that takes all the files that make up your website and stores them on a server that is connected up to the internet 24/7/365. From their users will be able to access your website all the time. You can find reliable web hosting for $10-$20 a month, (Learn How to Pick the Right Web Host). After initial start up costs, the cost of maintaining a website are very small which allows you to be very profitable. All the choices you have to make here are extremely important ones for your site, but they can all be very cheap.

Creating a Website is Easy Now!

You don’t have to know HTML to create a good looking website now. Using programs like Adobe Dreamweaver allows you to create the design of your website and it creates the HTML that goes along with the design. There are simple tutorials all over the internet that tell you how to create a website. You can use sites like Yahoo’s Site Builder to drag and drop pictures to design your website. If you wanted to create a blog you can use free blog hosting sites like Google’s Blogger and create a blog in minutes.

E-commerce is Succeeding even in a Down Economy

While regular brick & mortar stores are struggling to even stay in business, e-commerce business is growing. According to the Department of Commerce U.S. Retail E-commerce sales numbers are up all around. The 2nd Quarter of 2008 saw $34.6 billion in sales which was a 2.9% increase from the 1st quarter and a 9.5% increase from the second quarter of 2007. Just recently on “Cyber Monday” (the online world’s “black Friday”) the online world saw another positive sign, consumers spent $846 billion on cyber Monday which was an increase of 15% over 2007’s cyber Monday.

Marketing is better/faster/more measurable online

Marketing online is all around better online. There’s an estimated 1.5 billion people who use the internet worldwide. That’s 21.9% of the world’s population. It has grown 305% from 2000-2008 and that number will only continue to grow as the populations in emerging markets like China, the Middle East, and Africa continue to get modernized. The Internet is a force that you cannot ignore. There’s a lot of people that use the internet and the great news is they are easy to reach and easy to target. A survey by Hearst Electronics Group and Goldstein Group of business to business marketers showed that the “migration of communications budgets from traditional media to online has accelerated to the point where nearly half of all spending, 47 percent, is spent on online marketing techniques today.” The businesses are doing that for a reason, they can track their marketing methods online a lot easier so they can understand what their ROI is and decide where to put the money. Also it is easier to target people online than it is in the real world so it takes less money to make more sales. Some of the ways to advertise online include search engine optimization (SEO), pay per click ads, article marketing, blogging. All but the pay per click ads can be free. SEO is the technical term for optimizing your site and link building with the goal of getting to the top spot in search engines for a certain keyword. This is important for the success of your online business because the majority of online users use search engines like Google to find what they are looking for. Being at the top spot in Google gets you the most traffic for the cheapest amount….free! There are tons of easy and cheap ways to market your website online.

Tracking…Online Analytics

I touched on this in the previous paragraph but this deserves more attention. Tracking how your business is doing in all aspects is important, no matter what type of business you have. When I say tracking your business I mean figuring out if you are putting your dollars in the right place. If users are leaving your site right away (a term called “bouncing”) maybe it’s because your site is not user friendly so you must re-design your website, if users are reading the content of your site but then leaving during the check out process maybe it’s time for a new shopping cart, it’s also important to know where your users are coming from and where they are going. You can tell all of this by using analytics software that you can get online. Google Analytics is perhaps the best program that you can use to track your website and the best part is it’s completely free. All it involves is placing code that Google provides you on every page that you want the program to track. On a daily basis you can check to see how many people visited your site, what they looked at, how they came to your site, how long they stayed, where they exited from, and most importantly if they were a conversion and how they got there. That type of measurability is critical to any business and that and so much more is possible online.

Starting in a Bad Economy is a Good Thing!

Starting up a business in a bad economy can be a good thing if you are passionate about what you are doing. As Paul Graham pointed out in his essay the economy does not necessarily affect a startup it is the founders that make or break the company. Just ask Bill Gates of Microsoft or Steve Jobs of Apple both of which were started in the terrible economy of the 1970’s. A down economy is an opportunity if looked at in the right light, by opportunistic entrepreneurs. A down economy means less competition, more companies/people looking to make deals, people looking for ways to save. It has become a well known fact that online is the place to get deals on just about anything you need. Retailers offering aggressive online discounts this year were able to increase sales from last year because they were able to adjust to a down economy because of the flexibility of online business. Online businesses are cheap to start up and cheap to maintain, those saving get passed onto the customer in the form of great discounts. At the same time do not ignore the economy creating a website that shows people creative ways to save money would be a great site in a down economy, or a debt consolidation website, or shop and compare sites, or a community forum that lets people share the best deals. There are countless opportunities waiting to be filled in the online world.

It’s About Time You Start Doing What You Want to Do!

Who doesn’t want to own their own business? You get to be your own boss, make your own hours, and feel the joy of successfully having your own company. If you’re tired of your job or even just want to turn your hobby into a profitable venture an online business is the way to go. The best part is it does not have to take over your entire life. With an online business you can do a lot of the work in a short amount of time which means you do not necessarily have to quit your day job. Do you like writing? Become a blogger, blogging is the hot thing in the online world right now and it takes all of 5 minutes to create a blog on blogger and not too much more time to create your own site with a Wordpress themed blog. You can write what you feel like writing about and make money doing it. Do you like a certain topic and you know a bunch of other people do? Why not start an online forum about it, that’s a great way to do what you want and profit off of it. There are plenty of businesses out there and an online business is the easiest way to get started.

As you can see there are great reasons to start an online business in 2009. It’s the easiest, cheapest, fastest way to start your own business and it’s a growing market that basically anyone can be successful in, if your passionate about what you are doing. Make 2009 your year to start an online business, Get out there and Get Started.

Online Marketing Has Become So Simple!

I was thinking about why it had been so hard for me to market and build a sufficient amount of traffic to my websites. I’d gone through many different schemes and programs trying to figure exactly what made this thing tick! I’d been through hosting FFA pages, to classified ads, through pay per click advertising. I had been marketing on the internet for years in the dark throwing away one advertising method after another and then I finally figured it out! And it was so simple…

It all boiled down to this in a nutshell. There are basically only two types of advertising on the internet period. There is short term advertising that will bring you quick hit exposure such as ezines, pay per click, paid to click, safelists. This type of advertising will bring you a quick surge in visitors to your lead pages, but once the amount of traffic that you have bought has been used up you won’t be able to make use of it again until you buy another traffic package. I love advertising this way, but I found out that when times came where I didn’t have a whole lot of money to advertise, then I would be faced with a period where I couldn’t get much exposure for my business. So this was a drawback to me!

The second type of advertising is long-term advertising. When I say long-term advertising I’m talking mainly about methods that will allow you to leave a text link advertisement of your website on a website or in an article that sticks on that site forever or for several months and draws traffic or is passed around the internet by many people virally and draws traffic permanently. I’m talking about some forms of classified advertising, article marketing, squidoo lens, search engine submisssion, traffic bars, 12 month sponsor links and so on and so forth. I’m basically speaking about advertising that once you do it enough times you can bring back considerable amounts of traffic to your webpages that lasts for a very long-time! The only problem for me was that use of this type of advertising takes a while to implement so the need for short term growth and cash was hard to come by.

I started looking around the internet at some of the succesful marketers and I began to notice a trend. Every one of their marketing campaigns consisted of short term methods that bought quick traffic, and long term methods that once you put the links out there or built enough members(traffic bars) you could get free traffic forever and it grew virally! As soon as I made note of this, every thing became clear to me.

To be successful on the internet, In a nut shell all you had to do was combine short and long-term traffic building strategies that have been proven to work in your campaigns, utilize an autoresponder for follow up and be consistent every week in your efforts to build your base. Once I understood this I knew that this could be applied to any worthwhile business and you have a great chance of being successful!

AdSense Click Fraud in India - How The Whole System Works???

A recent report on Click Fraud suggests that the maximum number of invalid clicks on Pay Per Click ads originate from India. And this is not the first time - its widely believed there there exists a large “work from home” crowd in India who want to generate “quick cash” by clicking Google AdSense ads.

During a recent trip to Google Hyderabad for BarCamp, I met someone who explained me the whole modus operandi of these secret ad clickers.

work at home google cash

Pick any issue of Deccan Chronicle newspaper (the English Daily of Hyderabad) and open the Classifieds section - you will see dozens of ads that promise you regular Google AdSense income while working from home. (see this newspaper clipping on the right).

You basically create a website and then write a few articles to get accepted into the official Google AdSense program. Once you become an AdSense publisher, you join any of these “bogus” AdSense network and are introduced to other members who are in the same boat as you.

Now Google would quickly ban your AdSense account if you click Ads on your own website so what these networks do is ask members to click on Ads appearing on websites of other members. So it like a reciprocal behavior - you click my ads and I will click yours.

Do members of such local AdSense networks make money? I have doubts. They may make a few dollars before Google discovers the click fraud activity, bans the account and returns the accumulated earnings to advertisers.

But in any case, the fraudulent clicks have been generated and added to the global “Click Fraud Index”. No wonder, India tops the chart.

Internet Marketing & Diarrhea

It was the end of 2006 and with all the Internet marketing industry material on the web I found myself overwhelmed with this business; I caught a bad case of online marketing diarrhea. I’m sharing this story because I know so many of you are going through the same issue and cant find the pepto bismol for your own marketing dilemma.

Obviously this was a horrible feeling but I knew what it was - I could center why I was feeling this way I and I did something about it. I was so excited about making money online that I failed to understand this concept. I spent time browsing through the forums looking for ideas and I was obviously all over the place - had no clue what to write about, spent time on these forums writing absolute garbage to increase my post count (Which by the way is a complete no no).

I figured that it was time to get to the nits and grits of the solution - the reason why I was feeling overwhelmed and frustrated was related to one common mistake we all make - lack of focus and direction. Its much easier to become an expert in one specific area of your niche than two, three or four areas.

I was faced with a choice among 1,000 choices; this industry can be broken apart into a million categories - now which one do I choose. I chose none - see its not about choosing and following something someone has already done. Its about looking at whats out there and seeing how you can do it with your own twist [be original].

How can you be creatively independent on the web; what will differentiate you from the rest?

When you think of Real Estate what names come to mind; Donald Trump.
When you think of computers, what names come to mind; Bill Gates
When you think of Stocks, what names come to mind; Warren Buffet.

Do you notice a pattern with the guys above? I hope you do but if you dont, no biggy (I’ll try to explain). These guys are making a gazillion dollars because they became experts in their niche. You cant be a “jack of all trades” this is the primary reason why most folks fail - focus, drill down, what are you doing and how can you do it beter?

My internet marketing question of the day is: What do you focus on specifically?

If you’re answer is many things, then this is your main problem and I can bet a cow that you’re in a state of discombobulation. Why don’t you to take the time to figure out what it is you like to do and become an expert in an area of that niche. What do you like to do? Is it worth becoming an expert in that area? use your common wits and actually pursue something that is going to be profitable for your pocket because at the end of the day this is why you’re doing it, no?.

I recommend that you visit high-paying-keywords

The seo keyword tool above will help you to determine if your passion actually pays well. Look at the dollar numbers that folks are investing in a particular keyword within your niche and then look at your options and figure out for yourself if you feel that is profitable enough for you. [don't forget you're in business for yourself, so think: ethical profits].

If you find there is a profitable market out there, the next step is to figure out how your going to take advantage of that market for yourself. Can you write an e-book targeted to that market? If the answer is no then you need to change your options because you need to focus and remember what I said above - [Become an Expert]. Find your expertise, figure out the market profitability and if positive, your in good business.

You dont want to waste time and fall in a rut because if you do you will be in it for the next 15 miles. You Don’t want to make the same mistakes so many of us made. I’ll say it again in case you skimmed over the post -Spend your valuable million dollar time focusing on one topic within your niche.

Don’t stres if your not an expert yet, its evident that it will take time, however, after you learn what you need to learn and you offer up your knowledge the dollars will start to flow.

Focus if you care about success. A perfect example lies on the idea of list building.

When building a list in that niche remember to stay on track with the whole focus topic you just read, because if you promise people apples and you give them pineapples they are going to another fruit stand and they will tell their friends not to shop at your place. [do you want that?]

Advice: [learn what the market wants and provide to them what they are asking for!] - its simple.

Did you know this is why you were frustrated? What is your next step?
